Tom Campbell’s Painting Classes Winter 2020

We’re delighted to announce that Tom Campbell will once again be teaching painting classes at Agora Gallery this winter! Due to demand, we will be offering two five-week courses, starting January 29 and March 4, 2020. The classes will run Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30pm (although the gallery will be kept open later to allow participants to continue painting if they wish).

Through a series of painting exercises, using oil and/or acrylic, the course aims to give participants an understanding of fundamental elements used in painting any kind of image, be it still life, landscape, portrait, etc. These elements are not used in daily life and can often be overlooked, but taking note of them will add a vitality to a wide range of artwork from realism through abstraction. For beginners a step by step approach can be given and for those with more experience a freer approach: the individual’s needs are paramount.

Tom Campbell completed a B.A. in painting and sculpture at Camberwell School of Art, London, England in 1974. He has taught painting at the Royal Ontario Museum, Sheridan College and Toronto School of Art, where he has taught both sculpture and painting, and been involved in program development for 20 years. Since 2002 he has also taught painting at the Hellenic Cultural Centre in Ikaria, Greece.
